Generally I am not a fan of fruit or chocolate in cheese. I would much rather have one or the other.

I have tried various chocolate and fruit cheeses at various Christmas cheese evenings with limited joy. Of those that I have tried, I believe that this may be the best.

The Wensleydale itself is pleasant, but lacks the true crumbly and moist Wensleydale texture one might expect when the cheese is not diluted by fruit and chocolate. The raspberry is immediately evident upon trying the cheese, but I struggled to pick up on any Prosecco or white chocolate flavours. The cheese itself is very sweet and goes well with the raspberries. There are lumps of plain and flavourless cheese within the block and the texture is therefore a bit hit and miss.

I recommend serving this cheese with a dry and crunchy biscuit, such as Peter’s Yard Original Sourdough Crispbread, which when combined gives the illusion of eating a cheesecake. In fact, the group unanimously decided that it was a good pairing.

As you would expect, the cheese does not pair at all well with the traditional accoutrements.

I first tried this cheese during a Grate My Cheese yearly meet and rated it a decent 7/10.
