Who are we?
We are Grate My Cheese (hereafter GMC). Our website address is: https://gratemycheese.com
Data we may gather and keep
Website Visitors
Like most website operators, GMC collects non-personally identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. GMC’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how GMC’s visitors use its website. This information is used only by us to offer the best possible loading speed and services to you.
GMC also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. GMC does not use such information to identify its visitors, and will never share it with others.
Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to GMC choose to interact in ways that require us to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that GMC gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, in order to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask visitors to provide a name and email address.
In each case, GMC collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with WordPress.org. GMC does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities, like authoring new articles.
All of the information that is collected on GMC will be handled in accordance with GDPR legislation.
GMC will never rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. We will only ever disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law.
How we will use your data
We will only ever use personally identifying data (such as your name and email) for the purpose of which you have provided us the data.
For example, if you contact us using a contact form, we will only use your data to contact you back and help you as best we can.
If you subscribe to our email newsletter, we will only email you with that regular newsletter and any occasional special editions.
Who we share your data with
No-one. Ever.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register with GMC, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
We will retain your personal information on our systems only for as long as we need to.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
You have a right, at any time, to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes. If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, please click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
