Doux de Montagne (Marks and Spencer)
Despite what the name may suggest to those such as me who are uneducated in the French Language, this is not in fact a French version of a popular carbonated beverage, but is instead a particularly delightful variety of cheese from the Auvergne region of France.
This is an excellent mild cheese with a pleasant soft and elastic texture which is easy to cut. The rind is inedible, and there is very little variance in flavour and texture throughout the cheese. The flavour is very fresh and mild, which can make it more appealing than heavier or earthier cheeses for a light meal.
You will like this cheese if you, like me, are a big fan of Port Salut. The texture is lighter, but it shares a very similar clean & creamy taste albeit with a little more of a hint of butter. I highly recommend this cheese if you are a fan of softer and milder cheeses as it is very high quality and relatively inexpensive for a luxury cheese.
This cheese pairs well with plain crackers and a Merlot and maybe even some German salami. It could also pair well with various light fruit such as grapes or apples.

Lover of strong flavours and interesting experiences.
This has become my wife’s favourite. She likes milky cheeses like Port Salud and Doux is similar and in a sense superior.
Doux, mayo, mortadella, a few leaves of rocket and sourdough bread makes a very good sandwich. And cultured butter of course.
I like the sound of that sandwich! I personally haven’t tried this yet but I will add it to my Christmas cheeseboard I think
what is cultered butter, please enlighten me.
